Mark Wahlberg reveals he left Los Angeles and a $90 million house to move his family to Nevada to give the kids a ‘better life’

Mark Wahlberg has revealed that he will be joining the exodus from California by leaving his lifelong home of Los Angeles in favor of Nevada.

In an interview Tuesday for The Talk, the 51-year-old actor said he had bid farewell to the Golden State in hopes of giving his children a “better life.”

Wahlberg’s move to Nevada, which borders California, comes after he put his staggering 12-bedroom, 20-bathroom Beverly Hills mansion on the market for $87.5 million in April this year.

Although Wahlberg had lived in his Beverly Hills mansion for more than a decade, he described his time in California as almost a missed opportunity.

‘I want to be able to work from home. I moved to California many years ago to pursue acting and only did a couple of movies in the entire time I was there,” she explained. So to be able to give my kids a better life and go on and pursue their dreams, whether it’s my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, my youngest son as a golfer, this made a lot more sense to us. .’

Wahlberg, who shares Ella, 19; Michael, 16; Brendan, 14; and Grace, 12, with his wife Rhea Durham, 44, may have only been referring to movies shot near their home or in California, as he has starred in some 30 films since buying his land in Beverly Hills in 2009.

Wahlberg was quick to admit that his move out of California was due to taxes, though he focused on how it would affect his business.

He added that he hoped to build a movie studio, as well as a ‘shoe factory’ and a ‘car factory’. [his clothing line] Municipal.’

“So we came here to give ourselves a new look, a new start for the kids, and there’s a lot of opportunity here, so I’m really excited about the future,” he said.

Wahlberg noted that he moved to Nevada in hopes of obtaining a tax credit that would make it easier to create his proposed film studio.

“After this gubernatorial election, hopefully we go to legislation and pass a bill so we can get tax credits for the state, build a state-of-the-art studio here and do this Hollywood 2.0,” he explained, though he didn’t share what candidates thought would be more likely to fit those goals.

Previously, she explained that her desire to work close to where she lives is because she is a homebody whenever possible.

“Every free moment I have, I’m home,” he said.

In August, Wahlberg bought a 7,327-square-foot, two-story townhouse in Las Vegas for $14.5 million, according to the Las Vegas Review Magazine.

The townhome is part of The Summit Club which has a golf course and many other luxury homes. The purchase was the second recent one in the wealthy Las Vegas community, having previously purchased 2.5 acres for $15.6 million in July 2022.

It is not yet known whether his sprawling Beverly Hills mansion has found a buyer, and its sheer size and high price tag will likely deter all but the most wealthy and committed individuals.
